Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., commonly referred to as Foton, was established on August 28, 1996, and is headquartered in Beijing, China. Presently, it boasts a diverse business portfolio encompassing a wide range of commercial vehicles, including medium and heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, vans, pickups, and buses. With a cumulative production and sales volume of approximately 6,000,000 vehicles, Foton stands as China’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, distinguished by the widest variety of vehicle types and the largest scale. Furthermore, Foton has partnered with two renowned global manufacturers, Daimler and Cummins, to form Foton Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd. and Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd.
Foton currently operates nearly 20 vehicle and engine plants across China, with a production capacity exceeding 1,000,000 vehicles per year.
On a global scale, Foton has established 13 KD (knock-down) plants, established research and development branches in countries such as Japan, Germany, and Taiwan, and instituted Foton Divisions in India and Russia. Foton has also made significant strides in the realm of energy-saving and new energy automobiles, consistently developing eco-friendly products that have transitioned into commercial operation. Their energy-saving and new energy vehicles span various categories, including trucks, buses, and versatile vehicles, and Foton Motor has become China’s foremost manufacturer in terms of production and sales of new energy vehicles.
